This journal is for thoughts and discussion about TV and writing, both academic and fangirly. Most of my posts are public, but recently I've been posting a lot about ratings, scheduling, and the biz, and those are locked for reasons I'll get to in a sec.

Feel free to friend me. If you want me to friend you back, please leave a comment and give me a heads up; otherwise it might be a while before I get around to it. If you're not active on LJ, please tell me if you have a handle on TWoP or The LoVe Shack or FanForum that I would recognize. I tend not to friend back people who are completely anonymous to me, i.e., we don't have friends in common or I don't recognize your name because you only lurk on the boards. I am a wee bit paranoid (ok, a lot paranoid) simply because I post some insider info in my locked posts that I don't want the wrong eyes to see (such as evil showrunners who attempt to control and silence people on the internet). I also post a bit of stuff that is somewhat proprietary and might not be entirely kosher to post publicly, though this could also possibly be filed under "paranoia."

You can also email me at the same handle at hotmail.

And now for a bunch of stuff that you are in no way required to read before friending me...

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: So, you’re a girl?

Yes. I don’t know why people at TWoP assume I’m a guy. Maybe it’s because “depudor” sounds masculine, like “matador” or “conquistador.” Maybe it’s because I’m pigheaded and obtuse. And evil!!!

Q: What does “depudor” mean, anyway?

It’s an acronym for: Dedicated to the Prevention of the Untimely Death of Riley.

Q: Who’s Riley?

Riley was Buffy’s S4 boyfriend on BtVS. The majority of fans hated him because he was kind of a blah Mary Sue, and they wanted him killed off. A very small number of us who were his fans (and have a soft-spot for small-town Midwestern boys) banded together in his defense.

Q: Does that mean you didn’t want Buffy with Spike?

No, I liked Spike as well and did eventually ship Buffy/Spike, although ultimately my OTP was Buffy/Angel. (Sorry, Wendy.)

Q: How do you justify defending a wooden guy like Riley while you have so much hate for Duncan Kane?

I think Marc Blucas was more akin to Ben Mackenzie than Teddy Dunn. Also, it was a long time ago. I was young and innocent and... I don’t have to explain myself to a FAQ. Back off.

i'm in ravenclaw!

My history in fandom:

Early childhood (<7 years of age) aka the 1970s:
Favorite TV shows: Little House on the Prairie, Quincy, Trapper John, MD, and cartoons. Lots of cartoons, particularly Scooby Doo. And Pinwheel (the first Nickelodeon show).
Favorite movies: The three movies that played continuously on HBO circa 1980: Clash of the Titans, Grease, and Escape to Witch Mountain. (2 of these 3 go on to earn shout-outs in the first season of Veronica Mars, leading me to believe that Rob Thomas also watched a lot of HBO around this time). Also Darby O'Gill and the Little People and My Bodyguard, starring my very first fangirl crush, Chris Makepeace, and Adam Baldwin of Firefly fame. Coincidentally, my fangirl crush shared the same last name as my very first real-life love, Jason Makepeace, who was my first boyfriend at the tender age of 4. Our song was “Puff the Magic Dragon,” likely due to the fact that our parents were all hippies, and our movie was Pete’s Dragon, and we also had a game we played called, of course, “Dragon,” which mainly consisted of one of us getting on top of the other. I got a lot of action in my preschool years.
Favorite bands: KISS and Air Supply, also a big fan of Sesame Street songs

Mid childhood: (8-10 years of age)
